who We Are

You’ll notice that we say “who” we are and not “what” we are.  That’s because CCF = people.  At heart we’re not an organization, a system, or an event.  We’re a community.  We don’t go to CCF – we are CCF!

Spend any time with us and you’ll quickly see we’re all different.  We are future scientists, teachers, artists, and who-knows-what.  We’re running start students and we are high-school grads pursuing a degree.  We grew up as Christians, atheists, Buddhists, and nothing at all.

But we do have a few things in common!

We recognize that college is a unique time of our lives and we want to make the most of it.  And Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”.  As those of us choosing to follow Him are experiencing that to be true.

Jesus also said no one should follow Him by themselves, so as a community, we are involved in each other’s lives.  We gather every week in small groups called “Cores” - listed below - where we share life, pray, and read the Bible together.  All of us in Core have the opportunity to meet regularly with a small group leader to help us grow in following Jesus well (we call these “one-to-ones”).

  • Guys’ Core : Tuesdays @ 3pm

  • Guys’ Core : Wednesdays @ 4pm

  • Girls’ Core : Wednesdays @ 4pm

  • International Bible Study : Wednesdays @ 5pm

And on Thursdays at 3:30pm in Syre 104 everybody in CCF comes together to worship God, learn from the Scripture, and share with each other what God is doing in the world.  Whenever we gather in these various ways, we anticipate interacting with God himself as the Holy Spirit fills our lives with his presence.

But CCF isn’t just about CCF.  In a hurting, broken, needy world, Jesus claims to bring healing, life, and hope – and He sends us as His messengers!  We care deeply for Whatcom’s campus, for the Bellingham community, and for the world, so you’ll find us sharing the good news about Jesus wherever we go – out on campus, in our classes, and on yearly mission trips!

We would love to have you join us!  Bring your enthusiasm and your questions, your faith and your doubts, your gifts and your weaknesses, your dreams and your fears.  We’d love to be part of your life at Whatcom!  Our community always has room, wherever you find yourself.

Vision Statement

We are a Spirit-empowered, diverse community of believers on university (and community college!) campuses, declaring in word and lifestyle our faith in Jesus Christ, equipped to fulfill our purpose in God’s global plan.

Mission Statement

We reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through Spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship and mission to transform the university (and community college!), the marketplace, and the world.

Five-Fold Approach

We seek to introduce fellow collegians to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. We plan to do this through…

  1. Prayer…Communication with God.

  2. Worship…Expressions of thanks through word, music, and service

  3. Fellowship…Community of students developing quality relationships.

  4. Discipleship…Learning about Jesus and following His example.

  5. Mission…Living a life that reflects our relationship with God in what we say and do.

And a few other things you might like to know about us:

  • Our community has been active on Whatcom’s campus for about 15 years!

  • We’re part of a larger community locally at WWU & SVC and worldwide called Chi Alpha.

  • We have a Statement of Faith and we see ourselves as part of the global and historical community of people who have decided to attach themselves to Jesus.
